He's one trip away from a visit to my American cousin from being gone.

I have read that there have been so many death threats against Trump that the Secret Service cannot keep up with them.

But he's such a nice fella, who'd want to shoot him? Angel

Yeah, I was referring to legal methods.

I hear shooting people is all the rage in the USA.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Quote: For any coup to be successful, those Washington bureaucrat generals would have to sway the loyalties of the majority of all those squad and platoon leaders to have even the slightest chance of success.

In August of 1945, after the two atomic bombs, after the soviet union attacked and after the Emperor had decided to surrender, staff officers of the Imperial Guard division, stationed in Tokyo at the Imperial Palace, tried to stage a coup to prevent the broadcast of the surrender recording.  Those who knew what was going on led their troops into the palace itself and the troops followed the orders of their commanders.  The rallying cry was roughly "we have to rescue the emperor from the evil men who have advised him to surrender."

The coup was crushed when troops who were not involved were summoned.

Soldiers obey orders.

Yeah, in that case soldiers on both sides obeyed their superiors. The smartest guy around then was the chamberlain who hid the recordings of the Voice of the Crane, the Emperor's orders to surrender. (Because, after all, "the war hadn't gone necessarily in Japan's favor."  Rolleyes )

Yeah, that was a great euphemism for "we got our fucking asses kicked."

The first time someone does that they get filed. If they repeat it the suits may take an interest.

Of course, eventually, but, by law, they have to investigate every single one and the blog post that I read (on VoteMaster, a very popular site, just Google), said that there were not enough agents to keep up with all of the death threats.

I don't see a military coup happening. Someone close to me is an Army commander...and his thoughts are to let the political/ legal processes (in which the US military doesn't play a part) play themselves out.

ETA: As far as death threats against the POTUS, President Obama got 6-8 death threats per day...and Trump is apparently getting the same number.

The Newburgh Conspiracy set the bar for that kind of thing.

Here's my source:

Quote:Secret Service Spread Thin

The Secret Service has its work cut out for it these days. So much so that they want another $60 million in funding for 2017 alone, which—if they get it—will push their budget north of $2 billion.

There are two issues, in particular, that make this president particularly challenging to protect. The first is his jet-setting ways, along with those of his family. Beyond the costs of keeping the White House safe, the USSS has to decamp regularly to Mar-a-Lago, and keep Trump Tower safe, and keep an eye on Trump's very busy and very globe-trotting children. Not helping matters is that much Trump family travel happens on the spur of the moment, which makes planning especially difficult and especially expensive.
The second issue is one that might not immediately cross one's mind, but becomes obvious once pointed out: Twitter. The Donald's use of social media allows him to interact with the American people in a way that we've never quite seen before. However, it also allows them to interact with him in a way that we've never quite seen before. That, coupled with Trump's personal style and policy positions, has resulted in a "tidal wave" of threats against the President. It's not possible to investigate all of them, but they do all have to be examined, with the credible ones looked into. That's not easy to do when working with only 140 characters' worth of information. And there's deep concern, bordering on paranoia, about what happens if they decide to ignore a Twitter user who turns out to be actually dangerous (like Sara Jane Moore, who tried to assassinate Gerald Ford in 1975 just months after the Secret Service decided she was not dangerous). Trump's not going to stop tweeting, of course, so they are going to have plenty of time to hone their skills. (Z)

I clicked on your link and it only said there is a "tidal wave" of threats against Trump but no numbers. I tend to believe Trump isn't special with the level of hatred lobbed his way - a whole lot of people hated Obama and 3 US presidents since the 1960s have actually been shot at.
