It was over about 200 years ago. War of 1812 and whatnot.

It upsets me that americans used the Yankee Doodle insult as a sort of rallying cry. We sing it as little kids, and think it's good. It's not.

We beat them in the revolutionary war we had with them... but it wasn't so soundly. British started another war with us, and we annihilated their attacking force. It took both of those wars before the other countries really respected us.

Uhem, we won a battle in the boonies after the war is officially over, while they occupied Washington DC and burned it to the ground while the war was going on.

Actually, Sae, we declared war on them. Not one of our brighter moves.

Right up there with Iraq.

You brits are superfluous. Smile

Yeah but you have to say it ah-loo-mi-num and end up sounding like a complete twat in the process because it sounds like it could be a separate word, Aluminium is how all the cool people say it.

Not so fast. Before the war was officially over, the tide began to change in favor of the Americans at Fort Meigs on the Maume river. The Americans defeated the British in a naval battle, (http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/entry.php?rec=712). After that, the Americans began to rout the British forces. The British tried to take control of the Mississippi to cut off America's advancement westward, but were thwarted by Andrew Jackson and his forces at the Battle of New Orleans in what I believe remains the most decisive defeat in British history. The war was becoming unpopular in Britain. Britain suffered a great financial drain in their war with Napolean, and America was becoming their "Viet Nam". The Brits wanted out of the war.

In their war with France, the British were stopping American ships and seizing sailors, forcing them to serve in the British navy. This was the reason America declared war on Britian. Ironically, because of slow communication at the time, the British had ended their policy of "Impressment".

Nevertheless, return our i's, or suffer the consequences!

You're welcome. Enjoy.Smile

If they don't return our i's, and pronto, they're about ready to get another butt whoopin'.
