If he’s getting notifications (not alerts) then he should be able to simply unsubscribe the thread and he won’t get the notifications anymore.

If you're getting unwanted notifications from threads you started in forums you no longer have access to, your only way to turn it off is to turn off all notifications for replies in your threads.

User CP -> Alert Settings
