The Cult My Dad Was In

The Cult My Dad Was In
My dad was in this cult:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emin_(esoteric_movement)

I assume no one else here has heard of it?

Anyways, my dad is kind of nuts so... lol. Yeah. My parents weren't traditionally religious but they believed in this weird shit.

I've never heard of it. But there are cults right here in California that I've never heard of until they commit some atrocious crime and then make the news.
I never heard of the Heaven's Gate cult until they committed mass suicide by poisoned jello.

ETA: I hate to say this but my dark sense of humor finds the mass suicide by poisoned jello sorta funny...

Ok, according to Wikipedia, it was poisoned applesauce...

If you include your dad, how was 5 people a cult? That's just a twisted gathering.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Hmm never heard of it!

But in reading the link, it doesn't seem to really fall under the definition of cult.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I'm from France and I'm 23 years old.

It's the first time in my life I'm reading something about this movement.

LOL I wonder if this was the inspiration for Pierce's religion on Community.

That's funny. My dad is also part of a cult/small religion. Maybe 100,000 people worldwide. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meher_Baba

Pete Townshend was also part of it. Although cult I think is a strong word really, since they aren't really trying to get your money, it's not really that small, nor do they make it hard to leave.
