I'll take the liberty of answering.
The solution lies somewhere in the middle between completely open borders ("let them all in") and shutting down the borders completely.
'Tis a shame our elected officials won't come up with a solution. I suspect it's more useful for lawmakers and their donors to gin up passions against the browns and refugees and distract us with that while they quietly shift our nation's wealth from the middle class to the super rich.

If you want to change that, by all means try to elect someone that feels that way.  But as of now, I think people would prefer there not be illegal immigration.

Sounds good in theory, but who really wants to foot the cost? How many people could live in your home? Two in a bed, one on the couch, 4 on the floor? That's how they'd rock it in plenty of countries? And we have homeless people in the US. You looking to add 6 roommates? I'd assume not. Because we like our standard of living. 

Considering a country isn't my house . This question is irrelevant. And this notion of cost and standard alteration is pure xenophobe anti immigration shit . And the notion of homeless people merely means we need to take care of them . Not that we not help foreigners .

We spend 60 billion a year on pets while we have humans starving in our country. 

Which has fuck all to do with wither or not we should help immigrants . It does mean the US is bad to it's homeless  

The decision has already been made, and it's not "Let's take care of all the humans of the world." It's let's have a really high standard of living, and maybe we'll share some scraps with the less fortunate if we feel like it.

Decision can be bad and that one is extremely so . And more Xenophobe shit .

Why don't the natives take back the land?  Because they can't.  Because the immigrants killed most of them, took all their land, and stuck them on reservations.  That's not a ringing endorsement for immigration.

You sort of figured it out.  Humans have been cruel to eachother since the beginning of time, because we are not all in this together.  It isn't 'team human.'  It's a nice sentiment, but nothing more.

Because again, the question comes down to 'What are you willing to give up?' And the near universal answer is 'not very much.'
