I start in immediately after I start to feel a cold coming on. If the cold takes hold, I flush until the mucus is clear; up to maybe 5 or 6 times a day.

I woke up with a sore throat his morning, so my first order of business was to gargle some hydrogen peroxide. I put Chapstick™ on my lips first, to keep them from burning. Then, gargle with warm saline followed by clear water.

First thing in the morning? I'd wind up gargling battery acid. And not notice.

You're thinking of Frank Neti, the wizard gangster.

My husband says he thinks they work great... I've never tried one and am hesitant but I don't get clogged sinuses very often.

Well, you can use distilled water as the initial vehicle but it needs to have salt added to make it close to normal saline. The most important thing is that the pot and solution is sterile with each use.

I'd rather just buy a packaged sterile saline nose spray.

Yeah, I figured the salt packet was a given, so didn't mention it.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
