Well, clearly, then, the dog had consciousness and knew that pissing on his owner was likely a bad thing!

Only for the dog- he wouldn't want to get wet with pee. The guy needed to be brined for the tripe he was handing out, though.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
