Stick to sucking at defending theism
Seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy -- myself.

Anecdotal..but, as an older millenial...the reason I;m doing better than most of my peers (and frankly, the majority of americans) is entirely because I rejected that myth from the very beginning.  I never saved a dime.  I made my money work for me in a variety of ways and...today, I have a surplus, but not for ever having intended to set any of it back.  I;m just a cheap bastard and a homebody.

Don;t get me wrong, I didn;t bootstrap myself or whatever the hell it is some people are always going on about. I started out land rich and money poor. 3rd base of a shitty kind..but still 3rd base.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I've never saved a dime, the boyfriend thinks we have it we should spend it, and we're living paycheck to paycheck. Certainly, I have a PS4, but that's all I have to my name, and otherwise I'm poor except for the roof over my head. What are we spending money on if we have nothing to show for it? I can tell you precisely, it goes to everything that makes others richer and me poorer; the expense of living is no longer just the roof over one's head; it's everything from electricity to car payments to gas in the car.

The hamster wheel is real.  Late stage capitalism, lol.

I;m working on breaking my remaining dependencies so that my quality of life isn;t dependent upon my financial; status regardless of whether or not I;m flush at any given moment.

What should be real is something less pretentious than that hamster wheel. But who am I to do anything to enact real change? Too many people in this god-forsaken country are too stupid to change anything, all because they are unaware of the fact that they could do anything to create necessary change; thank you insufficient education system.

You;re the only person who -can- enact that change.  Many of us spend our entire lives waiting for some improvement to the system to flow down from the top...even though we may fully realize that "the top" has compelling (and even binding)  incentive to maintain the status quo.

The failure of our generation, thusfar.

It is an imposing question, though, why should you handicap yourself by going off-res, knowing that others won;t follow? I know that I certainly could have made even more money if I went with the flow, and turned that wheel. Still could. I could decide to spool that fucker up tomorrow.

The failure is of the people.

I remember in college government class, it was lectured and discussed how the people of the U.S. can group together to overthrow and introduce a new form of government.

Do you realize most 'Muricans are unaware of this?

As much as we lionize our founding fathers.....you;d think we were all well aware.  The trouble, ofc, is that it;s risky.  Maybe not rebellion risky (blood and sweat)...but at least financially risky.  I didn;t just dive in, myself.  I toed the water, first, with subversion. That worked...now I;m looking for a way to capitalize on that to fully opt out.

Then you have the brave motherfuckers...like Cap. I stack bricks....Cap just fuckin jumped. OFC he would, guys comfortable with rocks and high places. Me...I;m more a down in the dirt and walking slowly kinda guy, lol.
