What do you think of Wicca?

Yes, that's true. Interestingly, it's almost as though anything goes, but when it comes to spells, it seems very personal and the main purpose is to reveal truths of ourselves. For example, if I wanted to banish someone from my life forever, it really would mean just something negative about them, but not harming them in some way. After every spell, one should say ''and may no harm be done.''

Idk, it's kinda cool. Paganism and all that.

A broader wiccan theology would probably be described as pantheism, in which case there really is only one god..and that god is every bit of every thing.  Gods and goddess are ritual tools, more often that not.

OFC, a person can also believe in no gods and still practice.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

There is layers, some people believe in harmful magic, and that you have to master both. Dark and light are just tools. And this is all layered, there is not one opinion, on anything in Wicca, it is practically open ended.

I know I was interested for a while,  but there is something sinister in the scent of it, isn't there? At least I always felt like that even as a Deist.

I know a person who doesn't believe in a Creator believes in the gods he believes in, and that gods are just a different type of beings in a different plane of existence, and that he doesn't follow them nor do they dictate anything to him, rather, they just interact.

You;re right, you;re right, theres a serious issue here that we need to address before the candle lighting luddites take over the world with all that dark magic.

I don't think I'd be interested in dark magick, however...in us all...there exists the capacity to want to do ''good'' and the desire to not do ''good.'' Whatever that means to you, on a personal level, or spiritual one. What I've been reading about Wicca, ''witches'' caution against performing spells in general, unless you are calm and unemotional about what your desire is, what the outcome is. Because when we're calm, we make better decisions. When you pray...you are asking for something...for God to do something, or cause a change in you, perhaps? If one invokes God into a spell let's say, it's with that same intent, similar to a prayer. But, a Wiccan can be a theist, atheist, or follow any religion or belief system...the spells are about intentions, and using our energy and intentions to bring about a desired outcome. That desired outcome might be that we merely grow from the experience. I shouldn't say ''merely,'' because personal growth is a beautiful thing, either way.

Being raised in Christianity, and having left it a few years back...it's still stuck in my head, what the Bible says about ''spells,'' and ''sorcerers,'' etc. :/

You guys could go read their books, at least, they will give avenues to verify the supernatural world and learn real magic. There is even different political views as well and I read a book trying to make excuses for them deceiving humans so long in forms of multiple religions and claims they did it for our own good. And that all religions are meant to end to bring about the universal archetype that they been hiding away for so long.

There is all these talks of the future type books too and their plan for the future.

Of course, personally I don't trust deceivers to all of a sudden reveal the truth.

The only difference between a spell and a prayer is that one of them cuts out the middleman.  Wink

Ever tried witchvox, btw Deidre?

I think the key with ''religions'' outside of the Abrahamic faiths, is that they don't try to convince everyone around them to buy into it. Wiccans are content living their own lives, it seems, and doing what they believe to be true, for them. But, do you feel that these beliefs can lead people astray?
