Odd isn't it. Personally, I went to my GP for a persistent pain in my calf that I thought was a simply pulled muscle, but it wouldn't go away, so I visited my doc. He was not happy so from there I went to the hospital for a sonogram of the offending leg, massive clots found and DVT diagnosed, next thing I know I am crashing through doors like you see on TV. 5 days in ICU on intravenous thinners  followed by six months on blood thinners. Cost to me? Nothing.

The American system is so much better, no?

And I can go a step further. My long dead mother had 2 heart attacks followed by a quadruple bypass, 30 days in intensive care (unheard of) and a shedload of rehab. Cost to her? nothing. Cost to an American $250,000+.

But then we all operate a socialist system which you hate. Much more christian to let your sick just die, right?

But A/I it is unfair... if not downright wrong....to say that it cost you "nothing."  You pay taxes to support that system.  The difference is that you actually get something for your tax payments and we don't.

Murricans pay $3.3 trillion per year for health care.  Medicare for all is estimated to cost $3.2 trillion per year.  What really sucks is that the mouthpiece for rich scumbag corporate pricks, Forbes Magazine, acted as if that cost was over and above the $3.3 trillion.  It isn't.  We'd actually save money and maybe if people weren't too broke to go to the fucking doctor minor conditions would not become major ones.

But, you know, 'Murrica can't have socialism because we are apparently assholes.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., June 3 (UPI) -- A significant number of cancer patients report they cannot afford treatment, a problem researchers in a recent study fear will become worse as the costs of new cancer treatments continue to increase.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina report more than one-quarter of cancer patients can't afford to pay for their treatment, and nearly one in five can't afford their prescriptions, according to a study presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

This. The Tories want to turn it into the American system and have already started privatising parts of the NHS. The only thing the Tories do is accept personal commissions to sell the family silver.

First they defund it, and this pushes people to go private. Next step is to claim that there is no desire for an NHS so they can scrap it.

Never had a problem with the NHS, maybe I have been lucky, sometimes it can be difficult to get an appointment to see the doctor at a time convenient to fit fit in with work and family needs, but you know you will get seen. Never ever had to think about the cost of medical care, it just isn't an issue.

This is fucking sick, even if you have insurance, and are in the middle class with a retirement savings, shit like this will wipe you out. This is nothing short of corporate greed. This is the long term result of Reagan's deregulation. It is legalized robbery.
