How insensitive and just plane wrong.  Little Dik cares very much what we have to say because it gives him something to disparage and a way to set himself apart as superior if only in his own mind.

Sorry to call you out like this. m'lady.  We're usually so simpatico.  Lets never fight again!

Ohpppssss..........you forgot to add..........especially with Christians and Muslim which are so sure that hell exist.....

Double wrong as usual. Razz

Coffee You're a fucking moron.

The word especially modifies your initial request but does not negate it. You asked for a discussion of whether hell exists or does not exist, adding that you would find the arguments of those who think it exists more valuable than that of those who think it does not exist. So, no, you're still wrong as usual. Additionally, a discussion about whether hell exists would be rather lame if it excluded views against its existence. And finally, attempting to limit thread participation is a violation of the rules of this forum. So you're triply wrong.

It may be worthwhile to define something before debating whether it exists, Rik. What precisely do you mean by the term ‘hell’?

Of course anybody who would like to intervene in the thread is welcome.
MK however would be the special guest.  Hungry

None, just like there is no heaven. Not a hard question to answer. There are simply human beings who buy into old mythology.

According to Christians such as Drich, hell consists solely in separation from God. This follows logically from Augustine's conception that evil is the privation of good, and good stems from God and his existence. If I understand your beliefs, Little Rik, the only thing separating us from God is something akin to ignorance, as similarly in the Buddhist conception of samsara. So I guess as a skeptic of hell, Little Rik, your task is to show that the Christian God does not exist.

Hell is nothing more than a theological construct invented for the purpose of controlling the faithful through fear. It gives the clergy power over their flocks and relieves them of a lot of the burden of proving their absurd religious claims. Dodgy

Well, I know YOU knew it, Jorg.  I was just trying to determine exactly what it is that Rik is trying to debate.

Only theists believe the "universe pop up as per magic". (IE... "God" spoke the universe into existence)
The rest of us.... not so much.

The thought of an intelligent, or even supreme being, condemning sentient beings to eternal torture for something we have no control over (ei. whether we hold atheism/christianity/islam, to be true) is beneath contempt. /thread.
