RE: The Orville
I think it's good enough to watch. It's not one of my favorites.

It reminds me of the #MeToo Gillette advert TBH: stupid white men perpetually fucking up and being childish/pathetic but luckily infallible black men and awesome infallible women are there to save the day! Phew!

I can hardly wait for the 2nd part of Identity that airs on the 28th.

Ha! There is certainly an intersectional hierarchy on board the Orville where the straight white men constantly struggle with their natural inferiority, the straight black man is almost as inferior, and the doctor is described as the wisest person on board. They didn't make her character gay, though. To make up for that, they gave her robot fever.

RE: The Orville
Episode 1 sets the tone - starts out with the captain's wife cheating on him, but by the end of the episode it's agreed all round that it was actually his fault for "working too hard," miss slippy knickers saves the ship, crew, universe etc with a moment of visionary genius and the episode closes with the cuckold saying to miss slippy knickers "You were always better at solving my problems than I was. You were always wise" to which she replies "thank you for saying that." Oh yeah, and it was her who got him the ship in the first place, in case anybody was left in any doubt as to her awesomeness and his general state of fail. Rofly roflcopter.

RE: The Orville
The only two episodes I liked this season so far are the ones where they encountered a civilisation based on astrology, and this identity one... going by the title I am assuming that the humans will cause the robots to have some sort of an identity crisis thereby destroying their civilisation and way of life, or maybe, just maybe, a super advanced race of aliens with technology light years away would finally manage to destroy the human planet, just this once!

Oh who am I kidding, they are already taking human prisoners instead of killing the non-important crew, thereby throwing out any logic out the window... they are one step (or one episode) away from experiencing human "love"...sigh!

They could at least have given her a male name (Michael?) FFS, cisgender bigots! I clocked her straight away as Cassidy from Deep Space Nine. 1 minute DS9, the next this absurd farce fail fest. Still, dollars are dollars I guess.

I loved the episode where they went to Bortus' homeworld of hyper masculine gay men whose entire planet is dedicated to weapons development and they spend all day blowing shit up. You know, because obviously an all male society has to either blow shit up all the time or produce musicals all the time. They should have gone all out and had half of them blow shit up all the time, while the other half produces musicals all the time. And of course they are ridiculously set in their ways and are completely incapable of seeing how wrong anything is.

What got me is that in episode 1 it's said there's only one sex in the Moclan species - male. If there were a single sex species it would identify as neither male nor female durrrrr. Truly the durrrr of this program is fabulous - I really love it - hilarious!
