Demon Outside My House?

Jade, listen to Brian. He's often a condescending pain in the ass with no empathy at all but he's spot-on here. He's done his research.

Do your own research. There's no substitute for that. When you do it yourself, things will click in a way they never would taking someone else's word for it.

Yes, the human brain will manufacture shit under the right circumstances. It is very well documented. Do the research yourself and learn. Our brains are amazing but they are also flawed in amazing ways.

There is no demon or otherwise pain in the ass on your land.

No empathy? No, not condescending either. Just frustrated that my fellow humans live in a modern era clinging to old claims.

I'm not going to leave someone bleeding in the street if I come across them in a car accident, even if I don't like their claims. As long as someone is non violent and values human rights, the worst they will get from me is a "BS, or "that is not true."

But yea, our brains are powerful enough to fool us.

I have had those false sensations myself long ago as a kid. The feel very real, but I know now they were not real, but merely a product of stress, separation anxiety, loss of my father, grandmother, PTSD from being bullied by other boys on my street. Mental illness are very normal, caused by very natural life events, brain chemistry and neurology.

I think I've related this story before. I used to live in a house in Belfast and for a brief period, you could occasionally hear a voice say, 'It needs to be put back.'

Demons were the last thing on my mind.

Jade, for whatever reason, you didn't really check for yourself to see what that "creature" was exactly. You had a few opportunities there, but you were gripped by fear (understandably) and so you couldn't take a look. But this means you can't just jump to hastily made conclusions.

By the way, the "calling out my name out of nowhere" phenomenon is something I've experienced myself ... in places clearly not haunted. In fact, in my case, it had nothing to do with any specific place I happen to be in, it happened because of how my brain in particular operates. I think it's more like the brain is easily tricked into receiving/sending "random" messages at times. I call this particular phenomenon the Samuel syndrome after that story of Samuel in the Bible as a kid (when he heard his name called like three times or something during sleep, and it wasn't from any one in the house).

Quote:Just to clarify that stance. You all believe that a brain experience, shared by multiple people, with no evidence of anything tangible found, is entirely made up in the individual brain and is not real.
Could be

Quote:I can  agree that it is one possibility, except there would have to be some medium to exchange the individual brains to share that experience.

Nope
