I was once asked, in all seriousness, 'If Christopher Hitchens was so smart, why did he die young?' Boru
‘But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods or no gods. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.’ - Thomas Jefferson
That's what I should have countered with, yes. Instead, I made the mistake of trying to explain throat cancer to a fuckwit. Didn't work.

Dying to live, living to die.
Yeah... Hitch and more recently, Vorlie.
I think that Christopher Hitchens was a great intellectual, albeit, a bit too abrasive at times. Ironically, his last words were something to the effect that, "Capitalism is a failure." In light of catastrophic climate change, I would agree.
One of my favorite quotes from him was upon the death of Jerry Falwell, went something like, "If you gave that man an enema you could bury him in a matchbox."

Sadly, humans aren't much good at anything else. So true of some religious who look forward to their (imaginary) reward in their afterlife. |
