Years and years ago, I was gifted a single volume edition of LOTR.  Beautiful book, but to big to be easily readable.  I still have it, but haven't opened it up in forever (I'm afraid it'll fall to pieces).  I also still have my Ballentine paperbacks, the ones with JRR's cover paintings.

Not disappointed, but she's definitely 'braced'.  Smile

The Red Book is the three paperbacks under one cover. I got one for Xmas many years ago.

What, he's not coming for you, either? Hehe

I've long thought that only a series could stand a chance at really doing justice to the novel, tbh. Dune's just too much to try and squeeze into a film, IMO. Even two.

Though not great, the Syfy series wasn't nearly as horrible as the '84 film, so I think a Netflix season would probably be a better avenue for producing a good adaptation. Netflix could throw a decent amount of coin into design and visual effects and most or many of intricacies of the book could be adequately explored given a sufficient number of episodes.

Plus, viewers could binge watch the entire season instead of having to wait God knows how long for part two.

Don't flatter yourself - I'm pre-corrupted.

Agreed.  There's far too much there for a film.  I might have liked the LOTR films better had they been done as a series.

At work.

I'm still watching the internet for the French game company that still holds the rights to the board game to reprint a new set.

Mates and I have worn the cardboard out on the old one.
