I agree with your point overall, although we can't just turn off all cultural influences at will and i don't really think it's necessary. But I don't see how hope is a magical word. In fact, it's the opposite. When theists use magical words like prayer, miracles, karma, and faith, hope is a word atheists should use because it only expresses desire. The words want and desire are not magical, are they?
