Looking for stories
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. D:

I'm writing a novel about a recently graduated college student. The current idea is that he goes to a Christian college and becomes an atheist, and subsequently a pariah among the people there. My own deconversion didn't meet with much vitriol. Could I please get some stories from people whose did?

I'm from the UK where Christians are mostly seen as an oddity.

If it's to be a novel, why not just make up the stories you need?  That's what writers do, I'm told.

My question for you why would you like to hear other peoples stories is it to use their story in your book or to listen to peoples experiences and gain ideas for your character?

A thought: Your hero meets a believer that he's really attracted to. He's worried that his atheism will be a problem. How does he deal with that.

Because using shit that actually happened can really add to a story’s verisimilitude and actually make it more relatable?
