Dating Fossils

Just bc u use the rocks the fosill was in, doesn't mean the fossil is that old. It could be older or younger than the rock, that's like finding an apple with a worm in it and saying that's how old the worm is based on decay of apple. Very strange! Or like taking a honda accord, or a piece of it and finding it in some rock and saying that's how old the honda is, we don't know, may be older or younger, can't base it off rocks can you?

Relative dating is used to determine a fossils approximate age by comparing it to similar rocks and fossils of known ages. Absolute dating is used to determine a precise age of a fossil by using radiometric dating to measure the decay of isotopes, either within the fossil or more often the rocks associated with it

I just read about relative dating, explain to me how I'm wrong.

Uhm.... realistically to do that without putting words into your post (Or mouth) I'd need to know both what it was that you'd specifically read as well as how you understand it.

Since I'm not in any way a mind reader, I can't really do either of those things.

Again, could you give just a hint of what you understand about geology in general. The different types of rocks. Various ways rocks 'Form' etc.

That they date the dino bones by retlative dating the rocks they're found with, but couldn't the dino bones of appeared later or earlier, what difference does the rock make?

Well...... first you have to have a grasp on how the various different types of rocks form in the first place.

Now I am certainly no geologist but......

For instance, you don't find fossils in bassalt or other rock that's formed from cooling lava do you?
