I had seen this video a while back, before I really looked into cetacean evolution and now that I have, I must say that Berlinski's arguments are somewhat less than compelling. Is one supposed to infer that modern whales evolved from modern cows? I mean, modern cows are relatively recent arrivals, having come about via artificial selection from Bos primigenius (sp?) no longer ago than in a span of time in the thousands of years range, whereas to get an idea of whale development, one must at least go back 50 m. years to Pakicetus, who already had aural cavity structures in place that were ideal for the development of the later, critical, evolutionary developments leading to the creatures we see today. To imply that the "ears" of whales are too different from the ears of cows and that that is somehow a problem for evolution is at best disingenuous. I don t know the most recent common ancestor of the whales and cows, but I think comparing two modern mammals and using that to make a case against "Darwinism" (I hate that word) confuses those who do not understand evolution.
Calvin founded a little theocracy, modeled after the Old Testament, and succeeded in erecting the most detestable government that ever existed, except the one from which it was copied.
