One of the things I like best about Paul Simon is that the majority of his songs are fun.  For someone as socially conscious as he is, this is pretty unusual.  A lot of artists trying to effect change tend towards gloom and despair in their music.  Simon has, for the most part, managed to avoid that.

I love that too! So many of his songs are serious, but feel so upbeat, like he has an optimistic outlook.

Exactly.  He manages to get a message across without making me feel I want to throw myself into the nearest rock crusher.

Mr. Simon's generation of music, is the last truly great generation of music. Sure, in the following  decades there have been many talented artists, just nowhere near the magnitude that they were at the end of the 60's into the early 70's.

The 50s were great too. You just have to know where to look.

Side note, I had a weird Paul Simon day yesterday. Since we had talked about it, I was listening to him on the way to therapy. When we got there, Loves Me Like a Rock was playing, to which Tibs refused to dance in the middle of the hall. Dumb. I came home and watched a film called Obvious Child, a comedy about abortion, and it didn't hit me until they played the song that the movie was named after the song. Derp. Anyway, Paul Simon is infiltrating my life. Call the cops.

Ellen and I are likely to dance publically at the drop of a hat.  Sometimes, ya just gotta…

Tibs just won't. I try all the time. Not only won't he dance, but he won't even be openly amused at my dancing. He just averts his eyes and turns his body into a tree trunk.

While we generally get a positive reaction, we were once asked to leave a coffee shop for dancing to Billy Joel's 'River of Dreams.'
