One domino is a bad thing I guess. Better get out my poker chips so I have more influence.

Will the Muppets be involved?

The muppets in the White House?

I’m sure they’re preparing tough speeches so they can ramp up the vitriol only to back down at the last moment.

DUH!

Still connected though. Government of all countries make laws. China doesn't want Hong Kong to affect anything, because if they do, it can be a domino.

The global market, both friend and foe alike are used like poker chips used  to influence others.

You opened this thread by saying that you 'stand with the protestors'.  Good on you.  So do I.

But there really is no connection between the current protests and trade.  If the government of Hong Kong hadn't proposed the change in extradition laws, there would BE no protests, no matter how much you'd like to image otherwise.

'Stand with the protestors' in this case can only mean you support their opposition to extradition to China proper.  Any connection with billionaires and the current trade spat between the US and China is taking place only in your hair-trigger imagination.

Their perfectly fine making a big deal about other countries . But now all of a sudden dead silence .

Though the whole situation there worries me as I have friends there

The truth of our western billionaires, not all, but far too many, look at China's authoritarian capitalism, where their workers have no rights, and hyper nationalism and blind loyalty are expected from their Communist party.

Sorry it may bother any republican or libertarian poster here. BUT FUCK YOU, I am a liberal, not a Stalin Soviet Socialist, not a Hitler Fascist. I stand with Hong Kong's protesters. Morals extend beyond profits.

Uh huh...  We're impressed.

You blather you bile anomymously on an internet forum.

Real heroic there, basement boy.

...

Get on a plane - fly to Hong Kong and take your chances with the protestets there of being sucked up by a dictatorial government and be tried and imprisoned for " terrorism".

Then you will "be standing with them".

Until then you're just another internet blowhard flapping his gob.

It seems that Brian37 is angry that we have not yet gone to war over Hong Kong. I'm happy to leave the conflict in the realm of diplomatic spat rather than military conflict with China.

Brian has found yet another event that, just like every other events that has ever transpired, resoundingly and totally confirms every last minutiae of his world view to be totally correct in every last way, his ever lasting confusion which is Kim jung Un’s family and which his given name not withstanding.

I wish people would stop reading thoughts into my head that are not there.

I DON'T WANT WAR! Stop missing my point.

You can support our values, talk strong, without firing a shot. JFK did that, even Reagan did that. Trump is an inept fuck and a dangerous fuck. Trump's insane talk in dealing with our allies and enemies is exactly what 50 former Republican intel agents wrote about warning America not to elect him during his run.

I have no compunction saying I am with the Protesters. Just like I am with the current crop of Russian protesters. Trump is simply not the leader you would want to deal with our enemies.

Let me make this clear, a war with China would be a global disaster and there would be no winners. That does not mean we cant have a sane leader using diplomacy , to support Hong Kong. The Berlin Wall didn't fall with a war.

Trump is simply a dangerous fuck, he doesn't know how to deal with Russia or Un or how to mediate between China and Hong Kong.
