Getting an Entry-Level Job

Hey, guys!
So, I've passed all my exams at the university this year and I've tried to get an entry-level job.  I've applied to a few computer firms in Osijek, but I got rejected. I suppose most of it has to do with my GitHub profile. What do you think, how can I make myself look better to the hirers?

I don't quite understand your analogy. I have proven I know something about programming, on my GitHub profile. Now, whether that's exactly what the employers need, probably not. But, for God's sake, how is a junior programmer supposed to know everything the employer is looking for?
It's not like I know only the useless stuff that's asked on programming competitions (though I know quite a bit about those things also), so that I am not employable in spite of my supposed knowledge.
