Actually, a source was never cited for him having said this (the original article said it came from an "unnamed source" and provided no audio or video of the statement). I chalk it up as more shit for the media to trash him about.
Ironically enough, there are much more important reasons we should dislike Trump than seemingly made up comments about nuking hurricanes.

Given the almost incalculable amount of rubbish he's spouted - on Twitter, at his rallies, during pressers, etc - it doesn't seem terribly far-fetched that he'd bring up nuking hurricanes. The weather johnnies in the US say they get this suggestion fairly frequently, and we know that Trump loves to parrot nonsense. Boru

Anyway, there's plenty of other, more legitimate, reasons to criticize Trump.
