Just so our champion of good old American coal power knows what to aim for, if all the known coal reserves in the US is all fully burned,   The energy released would be broadly comparable to those released during one single average Atlantic hurricane season.

Somehow we feel we are prepared to stand our technological strength against energy of the sun as manifested by those captured by the climate and that we have little to fear from a small perturbation in weather.

Obviously the real answer to hurricanes is building a giant wall that's wind and water proof, around the southern and eastern coast. Big enough, and thick enough, to repel them. Just strip down the Appalachian mountains, and use that to build the great wall of America.
