I've strength trained since the age of 12. Still do it even though I had some time in between where I couldn't for a while. Other than that I've been consistent. I found bench presses frustrated me. I peaked at maybe a 205 press when I was very overweight. Right now I do feet elevated pushups instead. Or decline pushups. I get continuous progress or nearly.
My large frame served me well with half squats and deadlifts, peaking at over 400 and over 300 at separate times. I never had to use ped's.
But then I injured my back. No more Barbell Squats, No more Deadlifts. I do what works. Not what hurts.
