Nah, I get all the exercise I need by jumping to conclusions.

I'm currently doing Insanity by Beachbody. It's a HIIT Cardio program... definitely not easy and I'm often tempted to skip days here and there. But I refuse to, because it helped me lose over 100 lbs. in a relatively short amount of time and I plan to lose about 30 more pounds, even though I probably don't need to. I basically just want to cut at this point and get the six-pack and become a little more defined.

Despite the stigma around a lot of the "As Seen On TV" workout programs, Insanity, along with P90X, are legitimately high quality workout programs, in my opinion. They can do a lot for you, along with proper diet, if you're lost and sort of don't know where to start when it comes to fitness. I absolutely refused to go to a gym, mostly because weight-lifting just doesn't interest me. I'm muscular now, but not bulky, and never had an interest in being bulky. Some of those guys just look silly, IMO, but to each their own.

Outside of that, I take Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes at a local school. That is probably my favorite part of my fitness regimen. For me, it's more fun than "working out," though I leave every class beat to hell.

It's awesome.

edit:

I also do push ups first thing in the morning, then go for a long walk. Though the push ups and the walk are more a routine than for fitness. It's a way to sort of stay disciplined and let my brain know that the day is starting.

I’ve been working out to get in shape and weight lifting was a part of that workout. Then I got some kind of shoulder joint injury (doctor thinks it’s bursitis). I’m doing an MRI on my shoulder tomorrow but until my shoulder is resolved, I’ll have to use swimming as my upper body workout. Thank goodness for my apartments indoor pool

Swimming is awesome for working out... I definitely underestimated it, thinking I'd easily out swim a friend of mine who invited me over to her apartment where they have a pool. She was lapping me, not even trying to hide her laughter. Sad

Getting ripped is as much about genetics as it is about hard work. I tried it, went over the top, lost interest.

No.

I’m more into body disposal.

Back when I worked as a mechanic, I could lift a 325 pound engine short block (block, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, camshaft and lifters) off the ground and into the back of a truck, unassisted. There wasn't a bar or any sort of handle on those things. That was 30+ years ago. It explains why I have chronic back trouble and had surgery on both hands. Ain't doing that, anymore, as in never again.

Well, it's kind of about mileage, isn't it.

I am staring down the barrel of 51. I have a titanium ankle that gets grumpy in cold or damp weather. Suddenly comfort seems more important than the bench press competition of youth.

I believe it is called perspective.

To the OP. You can bench press whatever you like as often as you like, but in a few short years you will be fucked and wondering what you did with your life beyond bench presses. Not a great legacy.

But have at it. Not my problem if you choose to lead a vacuous life.
