The Rooster

RE: The Rooster
My understanding is evolution moves very slowly or not at all until that advantageous random variation hits. After that the specific adaptation usually spreads very quickly.

I was hoping the thread title was a euphemism, though I did wonder why it wasn’t in Area 69.

The egg came before the chicken.

It just wasn’t a chicken egg.

If your donkey ate the legs of my poor rooster, then you know that would mean that I had two feet of my cock in your ass. :-)

The religitard well ran dry long ago. Yet they continue to dredge it for absurd, irrational solutions to fulfill their fantasy of self-glorifacation.

You're describing punctuated equilibrium (Eldredge and Gould) which caused no end of fuss when it was first presented.  Many of the stricter Darwinians had a lot of trouble accepting that the gradualism proposed by Darwin might not be the case (some still haven't).

Current thinking is that gradualism and PE are both true, depending on the circumstances in which groups of organisms find themselves.

Yeah, because pushing a baby out through the end of your dick isn't going to tingle.

No. Your Y chromosome is just a degenerate fragment of an X chromosome. It's an afterthought that codes for little beyond "Be Male."

Interestingly, birds use a completely different chromosome for sex determination. Their Z chromosome is analogous to our chromosome 9. Two Z chromosomes get you a rooster, while ZW gets you a hen. The opposite of the mammalian system.

So the rooster came first but Adam was second best.

In reality, the answer is the same for the chicken or egg question. Neither. Our distant ancestors were hermaphrodites and asexual before that, though you have to go back a long way to get that primitive.

Thanks. Yeah that makes sense. Now that you say that I’m not sure why it seemed like it had to be either or.

Eggs have existed longer than chickens, hell, even birds, or even vertebrates.

Also, is it just me or is this a slightly less idiotic (if a bit more crass) version of an argument Ray Comfort uses? That evolution is fake because it supposedly requires male and female to evolve separately?

What sort of god would let eggs exist for so long without bacon?
