Spring football if done right could work. Any potential pro football league would not work playing in the fall competing with the NFL. Problem with it in any business is the starter has to expect initial losses for the first 2 to 5 years. The other leagues failed in the past because the CEOs and investors either didn't have the money or simply didn't want to take more loss. If you are going to have a pro league, it makes sense to make the attempt in the spring when you are not competing with the NFL.
Yeah, didn’t ask about any of that. You and Mr. Wizard said you wanted something to fill the space between NFL seasons. You couldn’t fill it with baseball, or does it have to be American football?

What? There is no law that says I have to watch baseball if I am not into it? I am also not into golf or soccer. I am sure you have run into those into baseball but not the NFL. Just like different types of music, sports is the same, you like what you like.
My friend Hillbilly Atheist from Oklahoma is not into NASCAR. Just like I am not a Washington Nationals Baseball fan, even though I am orignially from the DC area.

Calm yourself. No one’s trying to make you watch anything you don’t want to. I was just asking if the gap could be filled any sport, or just American football.
Consider your preference known and understood. 👍

Fantasy sports is simply Dungeons and Dragons for jocks. And I am fine with that too, just as long as you are not a gambling atic.
In all seriousness, I give credit to all pro sports, even the ones I am not into. I don't like baseball myself, too slow for me. But when watching highlights on the news, I can look at a play and say, "Damn that was amazing." I don't watch golf either, but I do remember a long time ago, watching a shot in a news clip, where the guy putted it a long distance uphill, but not a straight shot, but off to the side, hooked it over the cup, like a fish hook into the cup. It was also a "Damn! I couldn't do that" response.
I also don't like watching soccer, but same deal for me. Sometimes I see a player make a seemingly impossible shot.
I am also into women's pro tennis, but not into mens pro. But just like NHL and NBA, I don't watch even that anymore because the corporate ads are now far too intrusive to the point the ads are on the court of play, and not simply off to the side anymore.
Sports to me, are merely something you like, just like food. You like what you like. No right or wrong to me.
I actually did watch the last game of the Cubs World Series they won, only because the Cubs hadn't gotten there in so long. But I won't go out of my way to do that every week. Again, too slow for me.
But one thing regardless of any sport. I do get sick of all the damned ads and video graphics as if I am playing an X-Box.

Baseball regular season is just not very suspensful, in football every week is important.

You need hurling. Makes you forget about all your NFL problems, largely by making you forget about NFL.
Remember, hurling, the solution to all your sporting needs.

It’s also a viable solution to that walking-without-limping problem. 😉

I played a little at school, switched to rugby for safety reasons.

It's a beautiful sport though, once you get past the missing organs.
