I understand that I am in Texas but I am in a large metro area with a very diverse population.  When I went to vote there was a line for Republicans and one for Democrats.  The Republican voter line snaked all throughout the building we were in.  In the Dem line, I walked in and was maybe 10 people back from the sign in table.  

I'd also like to mention the Republican supporters made it so you had to run a gauntlet to get to the building...I saw not one Democrat trying to talk to people or hand out literature.

I said months ago that the DNC had a clown car of candidates...the joke's gonna be on the Dems...didn't learn a damn thing in the last 3+ years.

At this point I am pretty disgusted with my fellow humans.

People are free to do whatever they want, including not vote. I just don’t want to hear their bitching after the fact, when Trump wins again.

We still have a right to bitch if we don't vote. I really dislike it when people say that, as if I have to eat a shit sandwich without complaint because I didn't vote the way they wanted me to. Fuck that. I'm a citizen no matter which clown is in the White House, and I'll bitch or praise all I want. You do you. How everyone else votes isn't really anyone else's business.

True, it is certainly true, that you can partake or not. That is certainly part of freedom.


My late mother was a mostly 99% lifetime voting Republican, I am a democrat. We had nothing in common politically. If anyone were to pick on her, even a liberal, they would get a mouthful from me.

But we are not talking about politics as normal. 

You can argue that it was too far after the fact for Mitt to vote to convict. You can argue that the likes of Joe Walsh, John Kashish, Joe Scarborough, James Comey and Michael Steele  all have turned on the republican party. 

Even if you don't vote, YES, it is your right to bitch. I agree. But what are the consequences for sitting it out at this point in time. It isn't enough to say you don't like Trump. You are a citizen, regardless of party. Nobody should argue you are not. 

But again, we are NOT dealing with politics as normal. 

It should scare any sane person, regardless of party, left, right, neutral or swing voter, that we now have an authoritarian mindset looking for blind loyalists who has made every attempt to purge dissent. That is not good for a free society, regardless of the party one may lean to.

The GOP does not have that problem. We are talking about a President who dared Putin to interfere in our elections, praised Kim Jong Un and even bragged about shooting somebody on 5th Avenue and despite all that, still won.

What is it going to take for Liberals to unite?

As if the Dems have been unified and courting my vote. Democrats don't automatically get my vote because I'm not a Democrat. Democrats can't own their own fucking failure and it's really getting on my nerves. If I have to get put down one more time because someone's being a sore loser, imma get a bit cunty too.

I don't go out attacking Dems because they're shitty at getting people to vote, yet my timeline is full of people shitting on Independents. That shit can fuck right off.

If the metric for unity is republican behavior..then I doubt that liberals or progressives in general ever could unite. Republicans have united as a feature of conservatism, a snapshot in time that everyone agrees is the model society. There really can't be any such thing....for progressives. Because....wait for it.....they're progressives, not conservatives.

There will always, always always always be some new or old issue that progressives will be divided over on account of spending too much or too little time and political capital. Multitudinous political issues in need of attention or correction, all in competition with each other. This is how it should be, how government should work. If liberals are pining for the unity of conservatives...it's already gg.

Yeah, like I said, I’m probably not thinking rationally about the subject right now because I’m a dumpster fire of hormones, and I’m pissed off (for the exact same reasons you are), and likely taking it out on the wrong people. I’m just so beyond sick of this whole shit show.
