Then again - suppose you make said masks....
Then what?
Why - you venture out and go to the hospital - where there's lots of infected people.......
Then you go home and give it to everybody there.....
......
Hmmmmmm....

I don't know if hospitals are taking such donations, but it doesn't hurt to call ahead and ask them what the safest method of delivery is.
The idea of making your own masks is at the very least useful for you and your immediate family. Wear them if you're going to the grocery store or taking public transportation, etc.

I did a little research about the kinds of masks required to prevent viral transmission, and I have to go with OLB in this one. The great majority of people who can sew possess neither the materials nor the expertise for this.
If we were facing a worldwide shortage of desperately needed dust masks, I’d be in the thick of it.

You heard the man, don't sew your old BVDs into face masks. Do something intelligent instead, like acquiring the right grade of cloth. And thank the man above for pointing out the obvious.

During today's briefing Trump talked using even scarves as protection. I haven't dug too deeply into the comment, but NPRs fact check of the comment echoes what I said in the previous page:
"Other protective types of face coverings, like scarves or small towels, could also help provide some degree, if minimal, of protection against breathing in respiratory droplets from those who are infected. Since you can transmit the virus before becoming symptomatic, wearing a facial covering will help protect those around you from a possible spread."

Confused by people panic buying shit. Especially masks.
My understanding... CDC and WHO only recommend wearing a mask if you are sick. I suppose healthcare pros where them because they don't know if they've been exposed or not.
I can understand wearing some gloves in the store or something... I don't know. I get taking certain precautions. But a mask? Seems pointless. Not to mention, there's a specific type of mask that is form-fitting... and apparently the loose-fitting surgical masks do very little..
Also weird is people panic-buying toilet paper. What fucking morons. You're fucking over your neighbors... and there's only so much TP you can use. So you're fucking people over for no good reason at all. If everyone would just relax and buy groceries like normal, people wouldn't be dealing with shortages.
I fully support stores putting limits on purchases.
If you're one of these people panic-buying shit, I hope your fucking house burns down with all of your extra supplies inside LOL
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
