Moment Of The Pounce

Moment Of The Pounce
Moment Of The Pounce, by Brian37 (Aka Brian James Rational Poet and @brianrrs37 on twitter).

I met you when you were an ounce
In a cat rescue, you were lost
Bullied like me you took to me
The moment I stepped foot

Into  your room of frey
Where all the cats were competing
For a permanent home
You knew you were alone

But in the shark infested waters
Amongst all those furballs
You parted the Red Sea
And brought attention to me

As soon as I walked in
To pick my next cat
I look around wondering
Where to go

I looked here
I looked fro
I wondered if
I could ever know

If the cat that had passed
The one that passed
Could I ever ever
Replace?

But my mother insisted
No matter my depression
The cat I lost prior
I must make an attempt

And that I did
He hugged my leg
And my current cat
Is my best friend.

I would rather
Spend my last dime
My last second
In cosmic time

With a pet
As loyal as Sarah
My best friend cat
Love lives forever..

END..

This poem  is about how depressed I was when my last cat Payton died. But later got a cat I named Sarah.. I still am scared emotionally what I will feel when Sarah reaches that point. But the point of the poem, is that life is finite, regardless of human or pet, and all of us move on, and remember what we leave behind.

Please remember or bookmark this, Brian. Maybe that’ll keep you from posting about not being able to find your cat poem six months from now.

I could give a shit less what you think of my poem.

Humans have pets, and even other friends even humans they put above bullshit tribalism.

Umm...I haven’t said anything about your poem. But at least twice that I’m aware of, you’ve asked people here to help you find one of your poems because you couldn’t recall where you posted it. Just suggesting that you make a note of this one in case you want to find it again later.

I found the Nena video for you. I will not look at a later date for your ode to the cat. Save it somewhere so you can find it.

To put this poem bluntly. Payton, my last cat, prior to Sarah, my current cat died in front of me New Years Eve. I watched Payton die on my bed that New Years Eve. I was depressed for days and weeks, and my late mother got tired of it. She finally got tired of my depression and insisted that I get another cat. This poem is about how I struggled with the loss of Payton only to end up with Sarah, my current cat. This poem is an ode to both Payton and Sarah.
