Hydroxychloroquine

Hydroxychloroquine

The doctor from Marseille treated 80 Covid-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine and is claiming a 93% success rate.
No one else has been able to replicate the results, and I'm not sure how exactly you get 93% from a sample size of 80... He cured 74.4 people?

Trump of course has jumped on this as the answer to life the universe and everything resulting at least 2 people killing themselves in a case of self medication... with fish tank cleaner that happened to contain the stuff...

Considering the mortality rate is less than 3 percent - doesn't that mean this is twice as likely to kill you?

There is no  universal peer reviewed independent source proving that medication is universally practical in all cases.

It is dangerous to sell it as universal.

I wasn’t aware that the drug is being touted as a cure for hangnails, baldness, and gout.

It's a hard 'no' for me, thanks. It isn't proven effective for the treatment of Covid-19 but is proven to be detrimental to people with cardiac issues. I am one of those people.

While I do value scientific method, I hate corporate marketing. Have you ever listened to the mice print in drug ads? The push for any drug manufactured by giant corporations isn't always about the "greater good", but most certainly about profits. I hate the drug ads that say, "may cause death". How about getting the product right first?

Even talcum powder has been recalled because manufactures failed to disclose the risk of certain types of cancer. Antacids too.

But same with any product marketing. Vaping is NOT a safe alternative to smoking. But this is the same type of corporate marketing big tobacco used. "Light cigarettes" are not safer than full flavor. And removing led from gas, while it reduced some health issues, it still does not change the fact our planet needs to move away from burning fossil fuels.

And that corporate rant applies to what I said in what way?

Antacids, talcum powder, vaping, and fossil fuels...have not a damn thing to do with the topic of using Hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of Covid-19 and my choice of not wanting to take something that is proven to be detrimental to cardiac patients.

Message boards like this one have things called ‘topics’, Brian. How is Trump pushing a drug for an unapproved use remotely the same topic as corporate marketing, talcum powder, antacids, vaping, or (Bog preserve us) fossil fuels?

And before you snap like a kite string in a hurricane, this is NOT an attempt to keep you from expressing an opinion. Start new threads - you like doing that.
