Oculus Quest

I recently bought a new computer so my kids will be able to play PC games with me and for shits and giggles I also bought a Quest VR headset. It is one of the most fun things I've ever messed around with! VR is here to stay this time. They are creating compelling experiences this time and the computing power is there to keep it engaging and largely lag free. I even got it to connect to my computer wirelessly. It was a huge pain in the ass but I can now play Half-life Alyx!
Anyone else into VR?

I find VR very fun. The ones with movement have a tendency to get my equilibrium messed up and quickly can make me nauseous. I do like a lot of the VR games and wish I had a home setup ready for that. I was looking at some of the VR arcades in the area that have been doing poorly and closing and wanting to cannibalize some equipment, but no luck yet.

You should get a quest then. It provides a room scale experience without the need for any fancy external tracking. There are cameras that track distance from things in your room including the floor so it is constantly updating your position using room data. When you put it on you establish a floor by crouching down and tapping it with a handstick, then you draw a boundary and boom you are ready to play! No wires no necessary external cameras. The library of games is limited but far from restrictive. I've had a blast with native programs and have only last week connected it to my PC.
I found a game where people can play as squirrels using a free app on their phone while I play as a tree on the Quest. I was thinking about setting up a game here but given the lack of interest expressed in this post I doubt anyone would participate.
My son finally got caught up on his homework and I let him play Arizona Sunshine (Zombie shooter FPS) and I had the movement set up for smooth walking, turning, and strafing (The LEAST comfortable way to play) and when I came back after about 20 minutes he was rolling around on the ground complaining of a headache! It persisted into the evening. I told him I'll show him how to set it up for teleport/turreted gameplay next time.

Sounds complicated. I have enough issues navigating regular reality.

Isn't RL already VR?

Real != Virtual your statement does not compute
Really virtual or not really virtual?
