Yes, WinterHold, it is a 40+ year old movie and I thought everyone and their dog knew about this. Just like facehuggers look kind of like a vagina.

And SF movies frequently like to use penises and vaginas as inspiration for aliens and alien worlds. For instance, the most excessive example is the french animated movie "Fantastic Planet".

But what is also interesting is that original Dan O'Bannon's screenplay featured them landing three times on a planet and finding aliens in a pyramid - to which Ridley Scott responded "Get rid of that garbage." But then he had temples-pyramids in Prometheus, I guess by then he embraced the "garbage".
