So I am buying music...
Any bands/songs/albums you want to recommend to me are much appreciated. In particular, if you have any non-mainstream gems to share with me, all the happier would I be to learn of them Smile
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word

Don't know what genres you like, but here are a few that are high on my list.

A few more I thought of during the drive into work. Enjoy.

Wow. I just got off a big SOAD kick after listening to almost all of the band's albums (Toxicity is my favourite, and the library doesn't have Mezmerize out yet), Scars on Broadway's only album (at least so far), and both of Tankian's solo albums; When it comes to the solo efforts, I'm torn between which ones I like better, whether it's Scars' hooky nature, or Tankian's lyrics.

Incidentally, I just bought a few albums: the Talking Heads' Remain in Light, Willie Nelson's Stardust, and the Pogues' Rum, Somdomy, and the Lash. Just a small look into my listening habits.

Also in my listening queue: The Ramones' first four albums, David Gray's White Ladder, Diz and Bird live at Carnegie Hall, Duke Ellington at Newport, Bach's Cello Suites (Heinrich Schiff's recording), Beethoven's Favourite Piano Sonatas (Stephen Bishop Kovacevich), Chopin's Nocturnes (Claudio Arrau), and Erich Korngold's score to Errol Flynn's The Sea Hawk.

Artists:

Allo Darlin' (twee pop)
Jump into the Gospel - they have a free self-titled EP on bandcamp
Stairs to Nowhere - they have a free album and a free EP on bandcamp (Diamond Wing EP & Adieu Delicate Atheist)
NOFX (try wolves in wolves clothing)
The Stokes
The Back Horn (Japanese band)
The Books (the books)
Pixies
Arcade Fire
The Shins (every album is a bit different and great, try Wincing the Night Away)
HOLY FUCK! (an instrumental band that do not use laptops to create their electronic sound)
innerpartysystem (Self Titled album if you like rock fused with electronica but everything else is mostly just electro, albeit very good electro)

and that's just a few.
