Countdown to the next username change
RE: Countdown to the next username change
When writing, the one thing from my past that pops into my head the most is how my freshman class English teacher wrote on my paper, "Stop switching tenses."

But here's the thing I have learned: you can't always remain in a singular tense.

For instance:

Today is warm, but yesterday was cold.

Before the comma, we have present tense, after the comma there is past tense.

Suck on that, teacher.

An elf that has transitioned from male to female. Sure to piss off the conservative fantasy lovers who actually read.

I was always taught that a preposition is something you should never end a sentence with.

I've come to terms with it being dependent on how formal you want to be. You can write a sentence any way you want to make it easier for the average reader to grasp.

Make it too grammatically correct and too formal, they'll feel like they're reading a boring essay.

I once took a speech course at uni and we were told (more or less) to follow the common rules of grammar, but should also feel free to break the obscure ones for the sake of clarity or impact.

I’d like to continue this, but I have to quickly go split some infinitives. 😉

When reading a book, I like it when the author is able to capture natural conversation.

@BrianSoddingBoru4 you and my sister would get along famously.

Dialogue between characters was never my forté. I'm excellent with description and world building, but sometimes I have a problem with transitions.

Probably so - I get on with nearly everyone (opinions of several ex-girlfriends notwithstanding).
