Countdown to the next username change

I've rewritten this first chapter a few times already. Maybe this one will stick.

Taking a concept, and characters, I created as a late teenager in high school and modernizing it.

First time I'm using third person point of view in a long time.

Quite proud of the first chapter, which I finished last night. The second chapter, which I'm still figuring out how to start, will feature the second main character. If I remember correctly, she was actually chapter one way back then.

There are multiple main characters, a group of people who are brought together by a special force.

Fun fact, I burned all that writing when I was younger. But the characters never left my mind.

Changing up the character introductions a bit. For the most part, they're the same from how I imagined them when I was a teenager, but of course they have to be more evolved than my brain was back then.

There's a four stanza poem, and each character mentions a line at the beginning of their chapter. The poem relates to how they will travel, which involves an object of lore. The character I thought was going to be in chapter two will now be in chapter four because a blood sacrifice will be needed for their journey to be initiated.

Finished chapter three. I'm really happy to be writing life back into these characters.

Chapter four done. The fifth chapter is going to be something a little different.

Working on chapter six. How I'm planning on unfolding the next few:

Six is a return to the chapter one character. At the end of six, he meets chapter four character.

Seven is chapter two character, who at the end of seven will make her way to where the previous chapter's companions met.

Eight is chapter three character, who at the end of eight will meet the other companions in the same spot from the end of chapter six.

Nine is chapter four character with everyone gathered together.

Ten is the non-human chapter five character.....

There are five characters. Two girls, two guys, and a cat.
