Taco inflation is real, and hurts, man.

15$. Total bill was $50 for the two of us, mandatory 20% gratuity auto built in.

(I usually tip 20% but hate being told I have to)

For many years I was on the receiving side of tips so I am a little over-generous, I think.

There is a local place that frequently sends me an email to order delivery with no delivery charge....I add at least that amt as a tip.

When I was in NC there was a Waffle House nearby where I ate three times (breakfast being my favorite food group).  I was feeling quite generous, the place was immaculately clean, the servers very nice, it was quiet during the times I went, and the food was good.  The servers probably missed me after I left as I was tipping about nearly 100% of the bill.

But the other day I got hit with an auto tip that I didn't know about and had also given a cash tip.  I'll not use that service again.

I, too, want the choice.

Normally I'll pay the bill with a credit card but tip in cash, it's a tax thing.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

I often do the same.  I see the taxes taken out of the tips for our workers and think it kinda sucks.  From food servers to hair stylists, I try to be sure to have a cash tip.

And a cash tip usually ALL goes to the staff.  If put on a card, the owner/manager usually will take out a portion for the credit card processing fee, plus some.

My local eatery staff knows me well.  I got in the habit during COVID to tip $20 or 20%, whichever was more.  I still do this.

It often leads to "are you sure?" from the staff, when I tip $20 for a $20 pizza.  Crazy thing to ask, IMO.

I also tip *very* heavily to the cannabis delivery people.  I suspect they fight over who gets to deliver to me.  A $50 tip isn't unusual.

The wife and I figure that such doesn't impact our lifestyle at all, and can make the week for a minimum wage worker.

Baby back ribs with mixed vegetables. The sauce was Famous Dave's Georgia Mustard. Very sweet. The ribs were from Aldi. Nowhere near as good as the ribs I got at Cub. Those were falling off the bone tender. These, not at all.

Cheeseburgers. These were fresh, steak-seasoned Angus burgers from the meat counter at Aldi. I saw a pack in someone else's cart and the power of suggestion took over.
