Brian May, no one else has a sound like that

Definitely Santana and his love of one long, sweet note.  Guitarists have signature tones, dynamics, and comfort zones that for fans and players make them easy to identify.  It's hard to narrow down.

Herb Alpert, rich tone at soothing volume, and Maynard Ferguson, blasting away at banshee notes.

Elton John's piano.

I love Santana whether it's watching his performance at Woodstock to his Supernatural album to now and anything in between.  Love his style....distinctive but never boring.

Mom and dad had a Herb Alpert album when I was growing up that they listened to a lot.  It had the song "Lonely Bull" on it, IIRC.

My favorite from the Lonely Bull is Never on Sunday.  So smooth and comforting.  My favorite Herb album is Going Places.  All winners, no skippers.  The guitar work on Zorba the Greek is extraordinary.  I think played by Tommy Tedesco of the Wrecking Crew.  I know he played mandolin on it.

B.B. King. The double stringing and left hand vibrato are unmistakable.
