One person thinks the moon is made of green cheese - wrong.

One billion people think the moon is made of green cheese - still wrong.

RE: Think about this -
That's true, but the number of people who believe it really is the difference between a clinical delusion and and shared fantasy. Between sickness and superstition.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yup. Truth is not a democratic principle.

A lot can be said about faith. I view faith as a maladaptive trait passed down the generations via Type 2 Error recognition: You see some stirring in the bushes, and you either think it's merely the wind or some big predator hunting for dinner. The ones who always thought it was just the wind, died, while the ones who always thought it was a big predator passed on their genes to the next generation, and here we are, anima & animus and all.

Same thing - but instead of your dog - you say it' s an invisible man who created the universe - your neighbors will all pitch in and buy you a building so you can tell everyone about it. Tax free.

Conclusion: people are dangerously stupid.

It appears that your predicament is best illustrated by this part of holy Scripture: "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." - 1 Corinthians 2:14

I can tell you from personal experience, having remarkably done a 180 degree turn from what I used to be (not by my power) - that unless GOD magnanimously reveals Truth - one cannot see.

It is imperative to exercise humility because "GOD resists the proud but gives grace to the humble".

Upon this occurrence, one would be inclined to say - much like the former slave trader John Newton (among many others) - "I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see."

Yeah, for this to be a thing you have to buy into the whole holy scripture narrative.

Who says it's holy?  That god guy that speaks in riddles?

Proving the Bible with the Bible...still an epic fail.

Yes indeed one does... The Lord Jesus, the Christ says “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 18:3-4

The Creator declares and indeed should rightly declare what is what, not the created.

Well, the almighty can declare whatever it likes...but, correct me if I'm wrong - in your version of the myth...many human beings are failing by this standard and could only succeed through christ's intervention not just on the cross, but also in their lives as a revelatory experience? To be born again.

Never had one of those myself. Only happened the once.

Is this something you strive to? To have a mind like a child? If you BELIEVE • A talking snake • A talking Ass • A talking burning tree • Dragons • Flying Serpent • Flying Scroll • Unicorns • White Zombie like a 5 YEAR OLD CHILD, you go to HEAVEN.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
