Of course  I have - and of course I know.
That's one of the points I wanted to talk about.
That's why  I mentioned  Wales, Hungary, Albania.
And you forgot to mention Magyarország.

Not practical.


Especially for multilingual countries that call itself by different names according to the language.   But generally for most countries whose language contain sounds or pronunciation rules substantially different from your own.

Hameln - Hamelin
Köln - Cologne
München - Munich
Nürnberg - Nuremberg
Regensburg - Ratisbon

Now if those politically correct people are to be believed, the good citizens of those towns should be very offended and insulted and in tears, because somewhere in this world there are some who do not use the "correct" names of their home towns.

Only those who have no idea of how languages work can think of such politically correct nonsense.

My home town is An Baile Meanach, and I’m not remotely offended when people call it Ballymena.
