45 days to Deermageddon

45 days to Deermageddon
Time flies when you're having fun.

Michigan whitetail deer firearm season begins November 15th.

So how is that 45 days from now?

Welllll....

For one - they opened up a special early doe hunt - September 18 and 19 - for private land. They are allowing 10 doe tags.

I still have plenty of venison in the freezer - I got 6 last year.

I also will be bowhunting this year - Oct 1 through Nov 14.

I could easily tag 4 does in the early - and get one or 2 bucks in bow season. I have shot 2 at a time several times. Deer are dumb. You shoot one and sometimes the others just mill about - unsure of what just happened.

Shit - I could be done before it starts!

Cool

I never did acquire a taste for venison. Might be one reason why I never got into hunting. Plus I kinda think deer are beautiful and don't want to shoot at them.

I understand that they are grazing animals and that hunting them can be good for their overall population. So I ain't knockin' it. Just never was my thing though.

But all my friends loooooove to hunt. Do you prefer bow hunting? Couple of my buddies are mad into that.

To me it is grocery shopping.

I favor whatever is the most efficient. To date I have found nothing better than an AR15 chambered in 450 Bushmaster. It allows me to drop a deer in it' s tracks out to 300 yards. The less they run after being shot, the better. They don' t suffer needlessly and I don' t have to spend all day seaching for them...
