What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?

Same number as in Lesbos. I think I smell a conspiracy.

I remember listening to an interview with some lesbian (maybe Tig Notaro) where she said how people ask her if she goes to lesbian bars, and she said that there are no lesbian bars. That there were some in the past but they got closed because lesbians go to regular bars.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Guy Fawkes is considered by many to be the last person to enter the British parliament with honest intentions.

That "to Google" is officially a verb in German, with its own conjugations etc. Eg "Ich googele..." (I google...), "Du googelst..." (You google...), and "Ich habe gegoogelt..." (I have googled...) etc. Cool.

Apparently, TED Talks are a really, really, shit judge of character. Case in point: In 2018, they got a lad named Daniel William Marsh to take the stand. He told the story of how he reformed after brutally killed an elderly couple. While I can certainly get behind the whole "reform not retribution" train, there was one crucial point that he didn't explain: he is a psychopath. And when I say psychopath, I mean he was officially diagnosed as one, even getting assessed on the PCL-R scale. On that same scale, Jeffrey Dahmer scored a 23/40, John Wayne Gacy scored 27/40, and Paul Bernardo scored 35/40. Marsh's score? 35.8/40. I can imagine that someone who committed such a crime might potentially reform, but with a score like that, I suspect that it's far more likely that Marsh was just manipulating whoever he had to manipulate.

There is one thing about Arizona that's absolutely fucking based: they're the only part of the continental United States that doesn't have to deal with Daylight Fucking Savings Time. That said, the Navajo Reservation, alas, does (due to its extending into New Mexico and Utah), but at least the Hopi don't.

If only this refusal didn't have to do with the fact that Arizona is a climate Hell that probably won't be inhabitable in a century or two.

I'm glad Mexico abolished DST a year ago. In years past, because the US and Mexico didn't change clocks at the same time, I had to keep track of time changes in both countries because my work team has people in the USA, Mexico, and Brazil (who last changed clocks in 2019).

I fully expect the USA to be the last country on "freedom time".

We kavitch now but most of you have never heard of Double War Time. (And yes, some have, but most of these would have been teenagers in WWII.
