As long as they have reliable access to fresh water, tarantulas can survive for more than two years without food.

Jim Jones frequently staged "assassination" attempts on himself to manipulate his followers. He used these orchestrated events to foster a "siege mentality," convincing members that they were under constant threat from external enemies and that only he could protect them.
Jones would claim he had been shot at or narrowly missed by a sniper, sometimes appearing with fake blood or bandaged wounds that healed "miraculously."
He routinely alerted the congregation to non-existent plots by the CIA, FBI, or "mercenaries" to heighten fear.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

^I wonder if the cost of high-tech ashtray maintenance is what put Spirit Airlines out of business.

James Earl Jones was paid a flat fee of $7000 (~$38 000 when adjusted for inflation) for voicing Darth Vader in Star Wars: A New Hope. Considering it took him just three hours to record all of Vader’s lines, that’s damned good money.

Many missing episodes from classic Doctor Who (1963–1969) have been animated by the BBC to reconstruct lost stories. Using original surviving audio tracks, these animations recreate stories like The Power of the Daleks and The Macra Terror, allowing fans to experience fully animated versions of episodes where the film reels were wiped.
