There are people who can do this

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Blue Alert: What does it mean in Florida?
wftv.com
Quote:Floridians are somewhat accustomed to their cell phones sounding an unsettling alarm to let them know about an Amber Alert regarding a missing child. But on Thursday, the sound came with a different warning: a Blue Alert.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, a Blue Alert is a request for assistance from the public following the disappearance, assault, or death of a law enforcement officer.

Seriously? Facepalm

I had received the alert, and I just ignored it because I had no idea what a Blue Alert was.

Hell, even I can do that. Watching a hot chick shoot a bow with her feet isn’t that hard.

I was expecting to read that it was for blue-haired matrons wandering away from their domiciles and getting lost.

Early in his career, Chevy Chase was the drummer for a band called The Leather Canary, which included Walter Becker and Skunk Baxter, the two who later founded Steely Dan. So, if you can bear to think about it, Chevy Chase was almost in Steely Dan.

Fuck...that was close.

Quote:When sperm whales need a nap, they take a deep breath, dive down about 45 feet and arrange themselves into perfectly-level, vertical patterns. They sleep sound and still for up to two hours at a time between breaths, in pods of 5 or 6 whales, presumably for protection. No one knew whales slept vertically until a 2008 study documented the behavior. And no one captured really good photography of it in the wild until 2017. French photographer Stephane Granzotto was documenting sperm whales in the Mediterranean for his book on the creatures when he came across these sleeping whales.

Short version: Gorillas in Rwanda have learned how to recognize and dismantle poachers' spring-traps.

Well done, cousin!
