What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
The highest crime rate per capita of any city in the world is at Vatican City where an average of 600 crimes (primarily petty theft) are committed per year, despite only having 800 residents.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Sounds like an unholy marriage which should be condemned in the sternest terms.

I think ordinarily I would agree, but c'mon I was on an airplane and the alternative offered sounded really bad.

Stefan Mandel and his investors won the lottery 14 times (the largest jackpot was $27 million) by calculating when the jackpot was worth more than the cost of buying every possible number combination for that lottery.

Here's a Christmas-themed one: Dr. Seuss cheated on his wife while she had cancer. After finding out about the affair, she killed herself and Dr. Seuss married his mistress.

Given that the population of London is greater than the maximum number of hairs that can be present on a human's head, then the pigeonhole principle requires that there must be at least two people in London who have the same number of hairs on their heads. (from Wikipedia; the pigeonhole principle)

I might have known this without realising I knew it.

That because there is no gravity in space, pens will not work.

I once saw that that NASA spent $millions to solve this problem. The Russians just used pencils.

The age of consent in the Vatican remains at 12. Apparently they never got around to changing to law when Italy changed its law to 14.

Although the Vatican is recognised by many countries a  state, it lacks most features of a state, beginning with citizens. All resident of the Vatican retain their original nationality, even the pope. The incumbent Pope, Francis, is a Spanish citizen.

On the Queen of England's birthday in 2015, she was given a gift of £5,000 worth of stud sperm by horse breeder Christina Patino.

The Queen is quite horsey . She has her own race horses which run in prestige races. She would have been delighted at such a thoughtful gift. A lot better than a gold plated toaster.  Cool
