A quarantine is supposed to be 40 days long. The term comes from 'quaranta giorni' (literally '40 days'), the length of time ships were required to isolate outside of Dubrovnik, Croatia to help prevent the spread of plague.

I believe Polk had a lifelong condition stemming from an operation he had in his youth.  It left the garden hose quite flexible.
Why is it so?

There used to be a breed of dogs made just for the kitchen called Turnspit dog. They were very small and were used to run on a wheel, called a turnspit or dog wheel, to turn meat while it was baking on fire. But the practice was eventually disbarred and the breed doesn't exist anymore.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Queen Elizabeth II always travels with a bag of her own blood. And so too do Prince Charles and Prince William.

There are areas in northeastern France that are unfit for human, animal, and plant life as a result of the first world war. Known as 'Zone Rouge' ('Red Zone), the areas are saturated with unexploded shells, grenades and rusted munitions, as well as lethal levels of chlorine, mercury, lead, and arsenic. One area near Ypres has arsenic levels of more than 175 000 mg/kg (this is more than 13 000 times the lethal level for human exposure).

I wonder if we could move one of these areas to Paris...?

Or move the Parisians to Ypres.
