What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
For the low, low price of $99.00 usd you may purchase a peace sign locket style necklace that holds an actual piece of wood from the stage at Woodstock....and it might even have two nail holes from being assembled at Bethel, disassembled, and reassembled at Woodstock.

Made me think of the bits of the cross you can purchase as a relic to have as your very own.

I'd prefer the peace sign though not enough to fork over that kind cash for it.

At least we know the stage at Woodstock was a real thing.

Apparently, Dolly Parton was, of all things, an uncredited producer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

That the man who plays Dr. Turner in Call the Midwife is married to the show's writer in real life.

FEMA expects in the case of nuclear war with russia, the bay area between sam francisco and san jose will be hit by around 30 russian nuclear warheads,  Los Angeles and San Diego will be hit by almost 100 warheads,   the stretch between boston and mouth of Chesapeake bay will be hit by around 500 warheads.

north dakota, montana and wyoming will receive almost 1000 warheads amongst them. Almost all of the warheads aimed for these states are expected to be ground bursts, which are less bad in terms of blast and thermal effects, but more bad in terms of fallout.

Idaho and South Dakota are the safest state to be in on the day of Armageddon.   only 1 russian warhead is expected to have Idaho written on it.  2 for South Dakota.       however the fallout from the 1000 ground bursts in states around these two might tell a different story for the the days after Armageddon.

^Thats one of the (many) advantages of being an Antipodean - there’s expected to be a lot left after the fallout falls out.

The oldest hotel in the world is the Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Japan and has been in business since 705CE. It has been a family business for 52 generations.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The oldest company still in operation in the world is the Japanese construction firm Kongō Gumi,   Which has specialized in construction of Buddhist temples since 587 AD,  when Eastern Roman Empire still had something Roman about it, and before Muhammad went to Mecca or took any child brides.

The Kongō family had owned and operated the firm continuously until 2006, before it at long last succumbed to the irresistible power of modern merger and acquisition. It still operate under its old name as a wholly owned subsidiary of a large publically traded civil engineering firm.
