What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
Hilarious thing I found out from John “Mindhunter” Douglas, apparently, one of the courses in the FBI academy (at least in 1970) involved studying words like “shit, fuck, cunnilingus, fellatio, cunt, and dickhead.” There was apparently supposed to be a special secretary who was older and more able to handle such words.

Apparently KGB field agents were trained to be the most persuasive sexual partner for their targets, with recommendation for the optimal techniques according to the age, orientation, cultural, social and economic background of their targets,  and to get rid of personal reservations and instill a sense of professional detachment, the practices are conducted and evaluated in front of the whole class.

I'm enough of a Kubrick Stan that I actually capitalise His pronouns. And somehow, there's still stuff I didn't know about the deleted shit from His movies. Or that (outside of the upcoming Napoleon HBO adaptation that Spielberg is apparently trying to get off the ground) people are still trying to make films out of His unproduced scripts.

Don't get me wrong, I knew about a lot of the stuff, but, in particular, the rediscovered footage from 2001, the deleted monologue from Full Metal Jacket, and the scrapbook subplot from The Shining were actually major revelations.

Stanley Kubrick destroyed 3 of the 10 rarest and most valuable photographic lenses ever made up to that point because he thought a candle lit scene in Barry Lyndon should only be lit by candles.    Furthermore he felt the scene should convey the feeling of being seen though period appropriate optics without refinement of modern optics technology.  They two demands are obviously mutually contradictory since only thr most cutting edge optics at the time could capture candle lit scene on motion picture film.

Nonetheless he procured 3 sample of a special ultra-large aperture lens the famed German Optics firm Carl Zeiss made on special order from NASA for the Apollo Program for use in still cameras to film the unlit side of the moon,  scrubbed the lens coating from them so the image will flare when looking at a light source as 18th century optics would do but considered a highly undesirable in modern photographic optics, and machined away parts of the lens so it will fit his motion picture camera.

Of all the 2978 people killed in New York City on 11 September 2001, only one homicide wasn't directly related to the attacks: that of Henryk Siwak. The case remains cold to this day.
