What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
An island off the coast can be part of the country, but by definition of literal land connection it is not part of the continent.

I also see a Scandinavian country on the map YOU posted. Why do you think that is?

You didn't hear me laughing. WHY is a completely unconnect area part of historical Europe? (And the same for Hawaii and Alaska.)

It IS connected to Europe, for reasons already explained to you. Politically, geologically, and geographically, Scandinavia is part of Europe.

Alaska and Hawaii are a completely different issue.

I agree with that. England's opinion or whether or not they're European has been somewhat fluky at times.

It's a phantasmagoria that defies geographical logic.

Culturally, their status as European is up for debate. Geographically, it's really not. Specifically, the part of Russia west of the Ural mountains (containing about a quarter of Russia's landmass and two-thirds of their population) is treated as (functionally) part of Europe.

But…but…The Great And Powerful Sama managed to find - after, no doubt, much diligent searching - a map that doesn’t include Russia (or Sweden, Finland, Norway and Ukraine), so how can this be??

Yeah, lots of people use the facade of humour to hide their shame.
